Summer break is happening
Welcome to my second weekly newsletter.
These are the curated links from this week's regular episode:
- Xcode DocC - Getting Started
DocC seems like such a great addition, pretty much standard doc comment, but the packaging and integration with Xcode seems amazing. Check this article to learn if DocC is a fit for you.
- Understanding SwiftUI Grid Layout
SwiftUI grid layouts are fun. This article is a nice overview on what things you can do and what you should not forget when creating a grid layout.
- What are Swift Concurrency’s task local values? – Donny Wals
Leave it to Donny to dig up a nice feature of the new Swift Concurrency additions. Task local values is something you will probably never need, but when you do, you will be happy when you remember that you have read Donny' article.
- A better way to ask for a one-time user's location with the Location Button | Sarunw
A nice addition on the location privacy front. Sarun details how you can use the new "Location Button" in iOS 15. No need to add plist entries, it will always work. Provided the end user agrees with you requesting his/her location.
- Mastering search in SwiftUI | Swift with Majid
Majid has a great article on doing search in SwiftUI. Providing a neat search feature in SwiftUI used to be a bit of a hassle. With SwiftUI 3 we are getting some nice improvements. Let Majid show you the improvements in his article.
I was pleasantly surprised by a tweet by Tommy about his new Iqunix A80 keyboard. It turns out the keyboard Tommy bought was exactly what I was looking for. As not to copy his exact choice and I really liked the look, I went with an Iqunix L80, with MX Cherry Brown switches and without LED. (This link is not affiliated in any way.) I am so excited for this thing to arrive.
I am working hard on creating some backlog of work for my podcast. Content will be published when I am on my summer break. I won't tell you when my break is exactly. Let's see if you can guess when it is happening. I have recording ready to go with Mustafa, Kim, Samuel and Sam. So I am creating a bit of a back catalog. All is available through early access on my pod fan page.
Finally. A request to you. Are you a content creator targetting iOS developers? Send me your marketing blurb. I just might do something fun with it.
