A book update and the weekly links
Welcome to my third weekly newsletter.
These are the curated links from this week's regular episode:
This week I also pushed out a nice update on my Lead Developer book. Do check it out. I added some content called "Minimum supported platform versions", "Process your notes each day" and "How to run a knowledge sharing session?"
Someone new will start at my project as well and I am the assigned onboarding partner of this new person. Looking forward to this. What are some of the best experiences you had when being onboarded on a new codebase? I plan on sticking mostly to what my book says and it feels great to be able to reference back to something for this topic.
- So we already got the MacBook shipped and arrived.
- Accounts should all be arranged.
- The onboarding guide was checked earlier today by me for any clear errors
- Reminded myself of the product's business goals and what this means for the project, team and individual working in our context.
- A list of links and must read resources is on our wiki. And all links work.
- I wrote down a plan of attack sort of pattern through our codebase to highlight where certain bits are. All high level, cause I'm not out to fry someone's brain.
I am also typing this newsletter on my new keyboard and it is just great. Best part were some public and private conversations I had with a few people on keyboard preferences and tastes. I personally like a keyboard which is kinda chunky. No low profile for me, it helps me keep my wrists raised from the table.
