We stepped on the brake, now let us accelerate again…
Welcome to my eighth weekly newsletter. It is Wednesday August 11, 2021.
These are the curated links from this week's regular episode.
I hope you had a chance to have some well deserved time off, or maybe you still have some plans for this summer. I am noticing that a lot of people already had their time of for this summer. The article count on my feeds are ramping up again.
I've made some good progress on my Lead Developer workshop. I don't know why, but every time I work on it it makes me smile. I think it is due to me really looking forward to it. Sign up here to grab your spot.
Remember those keyboards I mentioned last week. Well I couldn't help myself. I'm now switching back and forth between my L80 and Atreus. That last one really takes some getting used to though.
I wanted to do a shout out to Vikash. He read my Lead Developer book, he wrote me an email telling me how much he liked it. And he graciously shared some of his insights, questions and he also found a couple typos. Reading his message made my day.
I also wanted to mention a small snippet from my reply to him.
One thing to keep an eye out for is in what way your team/project/manager is considered successful by the business and try and work on ways to get closer to that. Your product/project exists because someone has decided it is worth spending money on it for very specific goals and reasons. Know those goals and reasons and things will become much easier.
It just goes to show. Questions are always good to ask. When you get a reply, you learn something. But me, responding to the question also helped me. I put one of my own insights into a concise written form. Without Vikash's question I probably wouldn't have worded this concept I just described so carefully.
